Pea's July Favourites 2014

We have officially pass the half mark of 2014!
So this month brings a very light routine because my face have been acting out like craaaaazy because of the travelling and the back-to-work stress and plus, I was on the pill for the time I was travelling cause ain't no one got time for PMS when holidaying!

I am getting quite obsessed with skincare lately and I am planning a detailed one on a range of products that have been fully hooked. So look out for that!

As I mentioned, this month is light, light, light. The humid weather and the air-conditioning in the office is just a NO so I am trying to keep things light so my skin behaves.

Kiehl's Micro-Blur Skin Perfector
I bought this baby at least three months ago...I think. and honestly, I was NOT impressed when I used it. idk why. I was very satisfied with my Smashbox primer but recently, that has not been working for me so I decided to give this another shot since gossmakeupartist [YT] raved about it so much. and I fell in love with it. Skin changes, so a product that does not seemed to work the first time doesn't mean it is bad.
I'm going all out here to scare you all with my pores. So yes, my pores are pretty much in-your-face. and after applying the primer, don't they all look so much less visible. I hardly use foundation when I go to work, just concealer so I really wanted smth that will cover my pores and not dry my skin out and this works beautifully. Its not exactly a matte finish, more skin-like and it works awesome for my skin right now.

p/s: yes, I am this red all the time.

M.A.C blush (Pink O' Peach)
Next up is this pretty blush from M.A.C that I found in my stash recently. I had it forever but I guess it just got buried under all my newer blushes. Anyway, this blush's name is so apt! It does give off a 'pinched cheeks' /flushed look that is really pretty.

Mascaras
1. Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal
2. Too Faced Better than Sex
3. Catrice Ultimate Lash Multimizer

Ok, I numbered the mascara in order of application. I am not crazy, I just find that layering different mascaras give me the effect I desire! And I don't do like three coats of each, just one from each mascara to give me the fluttery, hair-like lashes. The Maybelline PumpedUp Colossal is waterproof and holds up my curls. The special brush from Too-Faced separates my lashes and the Catrice one gives me so much volume yet no clumps. HOW MUCH LOVE??? After applications, I like how it gives me the messy effect - something like the Ardell Demi Wispies.

I should have curled and brush out my lashes properly, instead of leaving it kinked in a weird angle. I am sorry haha]

This is a comparison to show you the difference with the mascaras on!Can you see how black and fluttery my lashes look?

theBalm Schwing Black Liquid Eyeliner
I got this from my brother's girlfriend and when I tried it initially, it flaked and rubbed off easily. Plus I cannot seemed to control the brush very well. But I was super impressed with the matte finish. It is SO matte and pigmented. Now, I put my Dollywink liner underneath as a guide and then I just put this on top to give me the matte look that I love.

Collection CreamPuff Moisturizing Lip Cream (matte)
I literally ran out to Watsons to get this lip product after I saw Shaaanxo on YT using it. The color amazes me every time I put it on. It dries to a matte finish that does not dry out my lips. However, I do layer my lip balm underneath and put this over so it does not emphasize too much lines. And this product lasts forever. I drink with it and it does not budge. I love it. Love the color and love the finish.

Ok,  I have come to an ennnnnnd. Let August be awesome for everyone too!

Love,
Pea

Review and Swatches: Catrice Longlasting Eyepencil (Waterproof)

Hi y'all! Hope Saturday is going great. Anyw, I'm just here for smth really quick. I picked these up on Wednesday due to some need for stress-relief. Flo loves them and I decided to pick up some colored ones for spring! They can be found at selected Guardian stores and retail for only $3.90 !

I think I picked up 4 of the 6 colors and the two I didn't get were a brown and a gold.

1. 010 New Kids On The Black
2. 060 Moss Undercover
3. 080 These Blues are Made for Walking
4. 070 Blue Berrymore

I kinda picked up these colors because I was so inspired by this picture below! (Picture from @Beautifulskin on twitter)

Don't the whole combination reminds you of a peacock!! Anyw, for the price, the quality is honestly top-notch. It's comparable to alot of high-end brands. It's smooth and doesn't need tugging. It can be used as a liner or a base before putting on eyeshadow to intensify the colors. I heard Flo raved about these often enough. It's honestly smudge proof after leaving to fully dry for about 5minutes and even using a wet wipe takes a few tugs before everything comes off. I'm duely impressed.

Maybe I should check out the other colors as well haha!

Have a great weekend!
Love,
Pea

Tutorial/Review: Catrice All Round Concealer Palette

[Products are not sponsored and all reviews are honest opinions!]

Hi! Pea here. Today, I am going to cover a review on the concealer palette from Catrice!
Retailing for only $6.90, it comes in 5 shades - 2 neutralizing shades & 3 varying concealer shades.
It's honestly such a great bargain, in my personal opinion.
It has a really creamy consistency and it dries off to a matte, almost powdery finish.
Pigmentation is awesomezx and the three shades of color is just nice for you to mix and match the shades to get the one that matches your skin tone.

The green shade is used to neutralize redness so that includes pimples/blemishes and areas around the nose.
The red is used to neutralize dark circles. Let me just be a little more naggy.

Dark circles are caused my a whole array of factors and not only as simple as a lack of sleep, like most of us think so. In fact, it is caused by an entire array of factors which includes hormones/genes, dehydration or even weakening of capillaries which will lead to leakage of unoxygenated blood.
This tiny veins around our eyes carry blood without oxygen which gives that bluish tint that causes 'dark eye circles'

Ok now.
Back to my main point.
Salmon/pink concealer will neutralize this bluish tint to reduce the darkness.
Use it after letting your eye cream sit for a about 5 minutes.

Pat the salmon pink lightly and sparingly along the arc that is beside your nose bridge
I've placed it above the pink dotted line. Then using a brush or ring finger, blend the pink over the entire area.
Don't go for the kill and smear it under your eyes. You'll just end up looking like you have swollen/pink eye.

It should look like the bottom picture after blending. As you can see, the red has visibly reduced the dark area.

Now pat your concealer with your ring finger/concealer brush over the pink area gently to lighten the circles further. Blend the concealer into your skin so you don't get a stark contrast between concealed area and cheeks. I use the two lighter shades to conceal. The top picture is the original picture!
I normally powder the area lightly with setting powder to prevent the concealer from sliding off.

Correcting eye circles can be done internally as well. DRINK MORE WATER! haha I sound naggy. I apologize.

And use eye creams loaded with caffeine which apparently (what I researched) can reduce excess blood leakage. Well, I don't know if consuming caffeine will help but judging from how much coffee I need per day, and I still have those circles, I doubt so. haha. Maybe it just needs to be applied directly. Please do not quote me and like, pat coffee on your undereye ok. I do not hold any responsibilities.

Review: Catrice Lipstick + Lipliner + Eyeshadow Quad

[Products are not sponsored and all reviews are honest opinions!]

Hello! Recently, Pea introduced me to Catrice, and we're both hooked to finding out more about this brand cause it is relatively cheap (and they also look very promising) for drugstore products in Singapore.

She has done a little review on the blushes that she got, which can be found here. And now I'll be doing a little review on the lipsticks and eyeshadow quad! :)

I immediately reached out to the lipstick section cause I was desperately looking for a lip colour similar to Venom from Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick range! It is a deep burgundy/purplish colour with a little sheen and I really wanted to get a dupe for it~

This is the Catrice Ultimate Colour in 140 Pinker Bell, priced at S$7.90. An extremely bright fuschia colour with a satin close to shimmery finish.

Pea and I immediately thought to ourselves that this is my kind of colour! Very bright and in-your-face, and it really did remind me of Venom, just in a brighter shade. I was pretty bent on getting this colour already cause either way I'll use it. Then I found the lip liners, and picked the (of course) burgundy colour:

This is the Catrice Precision Lip Liner in 060 Very Berry, priced at S$4.90. A dark purple colour, really close to what I was looking for but without the shine!

1. Lipstick in 140 Pinker-Bell
2. Lipstick in 140 Pinker-Bell smudged out
♡ 3. Lipliner in 060 Very Berry + Lipstick in 140 Pinker-Bell
4. Lipliner in 060 Very Berry

My favourite way of wearing it is of course by mixing the lip liner and lipstick together!! :D

I start by filling my whole lips with the lipliner in 060 Very Berry, and then layer the lipstick in 140 Pinker-Bell on top. Fairly easy, but creates the best burgundy colour ever. Haha.

This is the Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in 250 Matt About Pink, priced at S$7.90. Just like the name, it is a matte creamy coral-pink.

It can be quite difficult to wear if your lips are chapped (like mine), but a little lip exfoliation will help create a smoother base for this lipstick to go on easily. Hehe.

The thing about these lipsticks and lipliner is that they have superb pigmentation, very affordable, goes on smoothly upon application and it doesn't dry out my lips (important!!). However, the staying power isn't as good as expected, it requires quite a bit of re-application throughout the day. But I am not complaining, cause I'd rather have to reapply than have them dry out my lips like no other!

Just a little tip, remove all excess + dried out lip colour on the lips before re-applying :)

I also picked up an eyeshadow quad, and can I just say how much I really like the whole acrylic packaging. It's so heavy duty and clicks when I close the quad. Makes me feel very secure. Hahaha.

This is the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 040 Never Let Me Go!, priced at S$8.90. Consists of 4 super wearable colours - my kind of colours again. Haha, I always stick to the browns when it comes to eyeshadows cause those are my safe colours.

1. A very basic champagne, shimmery, highlight colour
2. Peach based shadow with flecks of gold glitters
3. A dark taupe with very fine silver glitters
4. Dark brown colour with fine gold glitters

Did a simple eye look with the quad:

(pardon my unruly brows T_T)

Dab colour 2 evenly all over double eyelid crease. Then blend colour 3 at the outer half of the crease inwards to the center of eyelids. Add colour 4 along the outer third lashline, blend blend blend! And then highlight the inner third of eyelids and below the brow bone. I also added colour 3 to the outer half of my lower lashes. Finish up with eyeliner and mascara! :)

The colours 3 and 4 are of superb quality! Very buttery and pigmented with minimum fallouts considering that they are pretty dark colours. However, I was quite disappointed with colours 1 and 2, cause it came off a bit chalky, and I had to swirl a few times before I could get a good swatch/colour payoff. Yet, colour 2 happens to be my favourite colour in the quad cause it's just so pretty and glittery! It works great as a single colour on the lid, adds that extra sparkle when you blink ;)

So overall, I'm really quite enjoying Catrice products and I wanna buy moreeeeee!!! Have any of you tried their products before? Share with us how you feel ^^

Catrice can be found in selected Guardian outlets: Serangoon Nex, IMM, City Link, Takashimaya, Vicocity, Bugis and Toa Payoh.

xx.

Review: Catrice Defining Blush

[Products are not sponsored and all reviews are honest opinions!]

Today I will reviewing a relatively new brand in Singapore!

Catrice is a relatively new brand in Singapore and I love what I've tried out so far.
I've converted Flo into a true fan.
So these are the 6 colors. [I bought 4, 5 & 6]
 1. Its a really light peachy/coral color with very subtle shimmer. You can dab it on as a highlighter!
2. This is a deep mauve brick color and I think it's a little too dark for my skin tone, but otherwise, its a beautiful color.
3. Toffee Fairy is just a nice brown that is very buildable for contouring or bronzer and it works because there is no glitter/shimmer in it!
4. This is like a everyday light plum color and totally my kind of color.
5. I wonder why I picked this up because I don't really wear coral much but look at the intensity!! Its a way more intense version of Apropos Apricot and it does not have the shimmer
6. My favourite out of the lot. I love pink. Pink on my face, lips, nails. Pink everywhere. This is just so pretty. Even the name is pink.

As you can see from the swatches, the pigmentation is awesome and the colors are very intense. I have gotten a whole lot of products which ranged from their highlighter pen to their lipsticks. I am dying to get my hands on the concealer palatte.
Flo will be doing a review on their lippies so do look out for that!

I have worn Think Pink out three times this week and I cannot stop lovin' it.
I tried out Love & Peach once so below's a picture of the shade. I normally sweep my brush across it and dust off quite abit before LIGHTLY sweep it across my cheeks. I turn red very easily so I don't use alot of blush. But I really am pleasantly surprise and love how this color turns out on my skin!!
It lasts for about 7-9 hours depending on how much I put and I blot once in between during the day.
Love & Peach

And this is Rose Royce !
As you can see, it is not as peachy/coral-y in color and I think it's a winner too!

So have you all managed to guess the price?
.
.
.
.
.
THIS PRODUCT IS ONLY $6.90
The price is unbelievable for the quality.
However, Catrice is only available in selected Guardian stores.
The outlets that I know carry it are Serangoon Nex, IMM, City Link, Takashimaya, Vicocity, Bugis and Toa Payoh. These are the ones that I know and saw on their FB page.

If you know of any other outlets, do comment below!

Also, have you tried out Catrice and any of their products? Let us know!

Pea's Everyday All-time Faves

[Products are not sponsored and all reviews are honest opinions!]

Hi! Pea here! I'll be showing you guys my go-to products for a everyday look. I don't normally use all of it daily because i am a heck of a lazy girl who loves makeup.
We'll do up another post for makeup for formal events!

I have combination to slightly oily skin and my main concerns are uneven skin tone and old scars and some hormonal zits. I also have really thin skin so I turn flushed/red really easily.

Ok so these are the products.
(It looks a lot but it really isn't)

I prime my face using DRx non-tinted physical sunscreen (SPF30) and then the Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion in Natural Beige.
(Ok I admit, when I'm lazy I just use sunscreen and concealer)
I absolutely love the dewy glow and ever since I switched my facial products, I don't need to worry about shine much! The sunscreen gives me a very lovely shine which I absolutely love cause it makes me feel very glowy. haha
For the BB cream, the coverage is really minimal and it serves to correct my skin tone. I don't like the feel of 'heaviness' so this is really perfect for an entire day at work because it is so light.
S$59.90

I cannot express my love for this concealer. I use it in shade 01 which is the lightest.
It's not too thick, it lasts the entire day, it matches my skin tone (when it's not red)
S$14.90

Next up would be my eyes

I never know the importance of eye primers until I got introduced to E.L.F eye primer.
My oil lids are even oilier than my t-zone and this eye primer has the lasting power of up to 8 hours.
If I'm not too lazy, I use Urban Decay Naked Basics to 'powder' my eyelids and keep it matte.
Price varies but I got it for $6 at Smoochiezz warehouse

I switch between Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner and Dollywink Liquid eyeliner.
It's quite hard to find the Dollywink one sometimes and the Heroine one is just as good!
It starts to wear at around the 8th hour? unless I forget and start rubbing my eyes which just causes it to wear off. I love that it doesn't budge and leave me with weird black smudges around my eyelids.

I use Covergirl Length and Covergirl Volume blast. They are my holy grail mascaras and I've finished about three tubes each alr. I basically layered the length over the volume. They are non-clumpy and that's awesome because I cannot stand 'spider legs'.
Heroine Make Smooth Eyeliner: S$18.90
Covergirl mascaras: Price unknown cause it was bought for me from the States!

Whew, this is getting long.
ok, let's continue this.

For blusher, I actually gravitate towards a bunch of brands but The Balm in Downboy is a super light pink which gives me a nice simple flush.
S$29.90
My other everyday blushes include M.A.C Pink O Peach, NYX PB05 Pinky, Catrice Think Pink and The Balm Instain Houndstooth

M.A.C: $21
N.Y.X: $10
Catrice: S$7.90
The Balm: S$27.80

Lips
Ok trust me, I'm almost done.
I like having nude, brickish lip colors so Maybelline in Warm Me Up, Revlon Kissable Just Bitten Lip Stain in Honey and Catrice in 030 Ginger and Fred are my everyday colors.

Maybelline: $17.90
Revlon: $18.90
Catrice: $7.90

(I just realize all my lipsticks are of somewhat the same shade haha!)

and, ending off with my face!
I take about..20 mins every morning? Which is not too bad, IMHO.

Before/After!
I know you cant really see a difference and that is the whole point.
I just like to even out my skintone and keep it simple.

This is taken with my iPad and I will start using my camera more to give you guys better quality pictures!
-promise
But I did not use any filter on this and its taken right outside my house with all the natural lighting possible. So there you go!!

If you guys want us to review any specific item regarding our everyday products, feel free to drop us a mail at twovainpots@gmail.com and we will do up a post!

Till the next review,
Pea
